Kypros Christoforou

Kypros Christoforou, 80, of Worcester and formerly of Salem, fell asleep with the Lord on December 3, 2012 at the Knollwood Nursing Center, Worcester. His beloved wife of 58 years, Yiannoulla (Giannis) Christoforou died in August, 2010. He leaves his three children, Irene Zoto of Worcester, Chris Christoforou and his wife Anastasia of Worcester and Peter Christoforou and his wife Donna of Salem; his 2 brothers, John Christoforou and his wife Christallo and their children, Chris and Dina of Salem and Soteris Christoforou and his wife Chrisoulla of Peabody; his sister, Christallo Christodoulou of Cyprus; his five grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Zoto, John, Thanasi, Cayley and Jenna Christoforou; as well as many other nieces and nephews in the US and Cyprus. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law Arthur Zoto in May, 2012, his brother Andreas and his sister Hambou. He was born in Sychari, Cyprus, son of the late Christoforos and Julia Christoforou. He then brought his young family to the United States and lived for many years in Salem before moving to Worcester in 1999 to be near his children. He will be greatly missed and always lovingly remembered. Kypros , along with his wife Yiannoulla, owned and operated the former Essex Shoe Repair Store in downtown Salem for many years before retiring. He was a member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Worcester. The family would like to thank the staff of the Knollwood Nursing Center as well as Dr. Glenn Randall and his wife Lauren for the loving care given not only to Kypros, but the entire family. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, December 6th from 12-1 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His procession will then proceed to Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester for a funeral service at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to either the Knollwood Nursing Center, 87 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA 01606 or to the Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
