AUBURN-Gloria R. (Guyan) Belanger, 89, of Auburn died Monday July 7, 2014 in the UMASS-Memorial Medical Center with her family by her side. Gloria was predeceased by her husband Raymond O. Belanger, Sr. who passed away in 1978. She was also predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. Gloria leaves her son Raymond O. Belanger, Jr., and his wife Claire of Auburn, 2 grandchildren; Nicole Rizzo and her husband Jason of Charlton, Gregory R. Belanger and his wife Melissa (Lamonica) of Auburn, and 4 loving great grandchildren; Ariana, Madison, Abigayle, & Bradyn. She also leaves a sister Christella Manseau of Kingstown, RI. Gloria was born in Auburn, Massachusetts, daughter of the late John and Christella (Benoit) Guyan. She was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester. Gloria worked as a purchasing agent at Worcester Pressed Aluminum for many years. Following that, she worked in the same position for Turf Products in Worcester until her retirement. Gloria was an avid reader; she loved her trips to the casino, and spending time with her family. She was an active participant with the Auburn Senior Center, and she belonged to St. Joseph’s Parish in Auburn. Gloria’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff of the Life Care Center of Auburn for their patience and professional care. Following cremation, Gloria’s funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday July 17, 2014 in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North in Auburn. Mary T. Buividas, 95, passed away peacefully Sunday at James Square Health + Rehab Centre in Syracuse, NY. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts on August 12th, 1918 she resided in Auburn, Massachusetts. Mary was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish. She is survived by her four children Maureen (Lawrence) White, Judith (Thomas) Asci, Ann (James) Gensler, Anthony Buividas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Millie Houlihan, Anne Houlihan and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Algerdi Buividas in 2005, her brothers and sisters Joseph Houlihan, John Houlihan, Nancy Houlihan, and Eleanor Bakanowski. Janice R. (Frazer) Dubois, 71, of Shrewsbury died Monday, February 17, 2014 after an illness. Her devoted husband, George H. Dubois died in 2013.She leaves two sons, Jason E. Dubois of Shrewsbury and David A. Frazer and his wife, Fawn of Winchendon, two grandchildren, Sara (Frazer) Cadden of Westminister and Joshua A. Frazer of Winchendon; two great grandchildren, Brooke Catherine Cadden and Emma Ann Cadden ; a niece Jennifer L. Dubois of Millbury; a brother, Robert L. Frazer and his wife, Carole and their family of Newbern, NC; her sister and best friend , Verna “Mickey” Peterson of Marlborough; and three caring nieces, Karen, Lisa and Charlene and their families. Janice was born in Marlborough, daughter of the late Charles and Anita (Fontaine) Frazer. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. She was very passionate animal lover; starting at the age of 7, she rode and cared for many horses until her early 30’s. She also enjoyed being surrounded by dogs all of her life, especially her Rottweiler “Bobby”. Carl Hagberg
Carl A. Hagberg, 88 years old, died peacefully on February 25, 2014 in Worcester, MA. He was born on February 15, 1926, son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Lindgren) Hagberg. He is predeceased by his brother Nils Hagberg and his sister Anna Johanson. An Auburn resident for most of his life, Carl was married to his beloved wife Shirley (Wilson) Hagberg for 67 years. Carl leaves a large, loving family including his wife, his son Richard and wife Debra of Auburn and their 2 daughters Alexis and Alana with whom he lived, daughter Judy and husband George Sherry of Maine and their 5 children, daughter Lisa Brooks of Auburn and her 2 children, and son Carl Hagberg Jr. of Worcester and his 2 sons. In addition to his beloved grandchildren, Carl leaves 17 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1 nephew and his dog Flicka. Carl graduated from Auburn High as a star athlete and Auburn High Hall of Fame inductee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He worked at Norton Company in Worcester for several years and later worked at and owned H.C. Hook Company, Auburn, until his retirement. Carl was an avid sports fan following both professional and local sports teams. He was a longtime member of the Scandinavian Athletic Club in Shrewsbury, serving as board member for many years. Besides a good round of golf, Carl enjoyed yearly trips to Florida, fishing, gardening, and woodworking in his free time. The family would like to express their gratitude to all of their friends for their support and condolences during this time. They would especially like to thank Dr. Shenbagaon Dewar, Pat Lazarak, and all of the nurses and staff at Summit Elder Care on Grafton Street, Worcester for their kindness and superb care during Carl’s illness. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Lutheran Healthcare Center of Worcester for their warmth and compassion in the recent weeks. AUBURN-Chester A. Wisialko, 78, of Auburn, died Friday in his home after an illness. He is survived by his wife Ann Marie (Rubery) Wisialko, his daughter Patricia A. Wisialko, of Sudbury, his sisters; Helen Vigor, of Glastonbury, CT, and Frances Woods, of Framingham, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was born in Framingham. Chester was the son of the late Chester and Roselie (Grzyboski) Wisialko. He is a graduate of Framingham High School, Newbury College and East Coast Aero Tech. Chester worked for Pan American Airlines, and Eastern Airlines. In his spare time he enjoyed sailing, family gatherings and stonework. Littleton-Paul E. Quinty, 69, of Littleton, died Friday in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Janet (Jarzinski) Quinty of Littleton, his mother Teofila (Korkuc) Quinty, of Ayer, his brother Peter Quinty of Shirley, sisters Susan Delcore of Nashua, NH, and Patricia (Quinty) Stern of Shirley, and his nieces and nephews; Kin Jarzinski, Todd Jarzinski, Michelle Churchill, Brian Quinty, Jessica McCarthy, Todd Swieca, and Laura and Erin Stern, and several grand nieces and nephews. He was born in Ayer. Paul is the son of the late Robert A. Quinty. Paul received his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Lowell Technical Institute. Mr. Quinty worked as a General Engineer for the Department of Defense at Hanscom Air force Base in Bedford, and previously at the Federal Regional Center in Maynard. He began his career working at the Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth in 1967. Paul was a skilled jigsaw puzzle solver, and photographer. In his spare time he enjoyed travelling and tending to his many flower and vegetable gardens. SHREWSBURY-Barbara Rita (Peterson) Schmohl, formerly of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Sunday March 8, 2015, at the age of 94. Her husband, Richard Schmohl; two daughters, Carol Shedd and Jill Schmohl and a sister, Alice Peterson all predeceased her. She is survived by her granddaughter, Leah Shedd of Shrewsbury and her niece, Harriet Lewis of Boston. Barbara was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late John and Mary “Mae” (Baltus) Peterson. After college she worked as an Executive Secretary and later worked as an on the road salesperson becoming quite successful in a male dominated industry. Barbara also was owner and operator of the New England Tool and Die. Muriel F. Bjork, 67 of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully after a long struggle with her health on March 31, 2015. Muriel was born in Queens, NY, the only daughter of George and Gloria Sima. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is no longer battling her illness and is in the arms of her parents and eldest son, Scott Bjork who passed away in 2011. Whether you knew her as Muriel, Mimi or M you were no stranger to her fire, spunk and undying love for her family. She was “Angel” to her mother, Auntie M to her nieces and nephews, Mom to her kids and Grammy to her loving grandchildren. She was a beautiful, dedicated, strong willed woman who will always be remembered by her friends and family. SHREWSBURY- Normand “Babe” Wilhelmy of Shrewsbury, was reunited in Christ, with his beloved wife, Irene and his sons Normand Jr. and Stephen on Saturday April 25, 2015 in his home in Shrewsbury surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a daughter, Cheryl McKane and her husband, Andrew of Rutland Vermont; two sons, Bruce Wilhelmy of Worcester, and Richard Wilhelmy and his wife, Susan of Boylston; one sister, Thelma Hanley of Chicago, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Irene (Argalli) Wilhelmy and his two sons Normand, Jr. and Stephen Wilhelmy; three brothers, Eudore Jr., Roland, and Robert Wilhelmy. Normand was born and raised in Marlborough, Massachusetts, son of the late Eudore and Georgianna (Boudreau) Wilhelmy. He graduated from Marlborough High School, later going on to Lehigh University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. After graduation he enlisted in the Unites States Army and served his county proudly during W.W. II. After leaving the Army he continued his education at Clark University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Normand went on to a career in manufacturing, working for St. Pierre Chain Corp. in Worcester, MA., and Hobbs Manufacturing Company also in Worcester. He was at Hobbs for 21 years, holding many positions before becoming President and Treasurer of Hobbs Williams Corp. of Toronto. Normand became Chairman at Wolf Coach, Auburn, Ma. and ended his career as owner and operator of Hobbs Fasteners, Worcester, Ma. Normand was involved in many civic activities, many of them in the Worcester area; he served as Director and Past President of Greendale Kiwanis Club, of Worcester, MA, the Director and Past President of Lincoln Neighborhood Center, Former Vice President and Board Member and current Member of the National Association of Accountants, Worcester Chapter, District Committee Member of North District of Mohegan Council of Boy Scouts, Finance Committee of Shrewsbury Hockey Association, Past President Shrewsbury Little League, Former Member Worcester Economics Club, Member of Worcester Area Chamber of Commerce, and also Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, ; and member of the Board of Directors for the Worcester Club. Normand also enjoyed his sports, he loved watching his beloved Celtics and Patriots and was a die hard New York Yankee’s fan. He was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury and enjoyed playing bridge with friends and traveling. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Normand’s funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 10 AM in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Peter Askervitch
AUBURN- Peter J. Askervitch, Sr., 96, Lifelong resident of Auburn, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. His wife of 50 years, Mary J. (Boudas) Askervitch died in 1997. He leaves his son, Peter J. Askervitch, Jr., and his companion, Debbie Burlingame of Charlton with whom he made his home; two sisters, Nell Forsberg and Bertha Dillon both of Worcester; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Richard ; two brothers, Bill and Joe and a sister, Ann. Peter was born in Worcester, son of the late Michael and Agatha (Pauzas) Askervitch. Peter moved to Auburn as a young child, and Auburn was always his beloved town. He enlisted into the Unites States Navy as a young man, serving proudly for the entire duration of W.W. II. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer he as the crew chief aboard a P.B.M., a flying boat which scoured the Pacific in search of submarines. Peter was a decorated veteran, receiving amongst other medals, the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked as a Plant Mechanic for J. J. Nissen Baking Company from which he retired after 35 years of service. He loved yard sales and the Charlton Flea Market. He was an avid outdoorsman and who loved to be out in the woods. Peter was a charter member of the Auburn Sportsman Club, he spent many a morning after his retirement taking nature walks with his buddied there. SHREWSBURY- Charles P. Sullivan, 98, of the Southgate Community Shrewsbury died peacefully July 18, 2015. He leaves his wife of 69 years, Gladys E.E. (Field) Sullivan; three sons, James C. He was predeceased by a brother, John Sullivan and a sister, Agnes B. Sullivan; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Charles was born in Boston, son of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Clarke) Sullivan. He graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in 1934. After graduating from high school in Boston he then attended Boston’s Bentley School of Accounting. He served his country proudly as a Sergeant with the United States Army during World War II. Charles was a longtime resident of Framingham where he was active in the Council of Aging after his retirement from Tabulating Service Corporation which he owned and operated and was a director of the Accounting Corporation of America. Some of Charles’s hobbies included Stamp and Coin Collecting, Jigsaw, Crossword Puzzles and Scrabble, president of an investment club and he was an avid Boston sports fan. Dorothy M. (Peterson) Mason 93, of Auburn, died Thursday, September 24, 2015 in her home after an illness surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Charles and Marion (Dragon) Peterson. She graduated from South High School and was a Professional tap dancer for many years. Later in her life she worked at H.H. Brown Shoe in Worcester. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering at the ice cream shop at Auburn Life Care. Her husband, Raymond L. Mason died in 1996. She leaves her son, Kenneth F. Turner and his wife, Kathleen of Auburn with whom she made her home; 5 grandchildren, Sandra Baker, Sharon Gaskill, Susan Johndrow, Edward Gauthier and Joseph Fagan; 12 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and many cousins.
