Auburn-Benas “Ben” Sinkis, 67 of Auburn died Sunday in UMass Medical Center in Worcester after a brief illness. He leaves his wife Deborah (Shemeth) Sinkis of Auburn, a son Russell Sinkis and his wife Melissa of Worcester, two loving grandchildren; Rhiannon and Tylor Sinkis of Beckley, WV, three step-grandchildren; Margo Gelardi, Alexandra and Tyler Beaudoin all of Worcester, and brothers Chester Sinkis and his wife Barbara of Oxford, and Al Sinkis and his wife Shirley of Worcester, as well as nieces; Debra, Kathy, Donna, Bonnie, Laurie, Kim, Stacy and Sandy and nephews; Stephen, Mark, Donnie and Chester. Ben was born in Germany. He is the son of the late Gustaf and Kunigunda (Pinkus) Sinkis. He is a graduate of Classical High School and he attended Quinsigamond State College. Mr. Sinkis was employed by New England Grocer for many years. He also owned and operated “Personally Yours” in the former Worcester Center Galleria. Ben was a member of the Worcester Model “A” Car Club, and a 32 degree Mason with the Guiding Lights Lodge of Masons. Ben was a “real” person who was a kind and genuine, he was happiest when travelling in his RV with his family, especially his loving grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday April 23 2013 from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street Auburn. His funeral will be held Wednesday from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St. North, Auburn. Burial will follow in Notre-Dame Cemetery.
