AUBURN-Christine A. (Johnson) Koopman, 56, of Auburn passed away Saturday August 10, 2013 in her home after a lengthy struggle with Ovarian Cancer, with her family at her side.
Christine leaves her beloved husband Thomas Koopman and her sons Stephen Koopman of Auburn and Brian Koopman of Ithaca, NY; her mother Jeanne Johnson of Auburn; her brother Raymond Johnson, Jr., and his wife Linda of Charlton; her father in law Robert Koopman and his wife Dorothy of North Carolina; sisters in law Laura Koopman of Worcester and Karen Urbanovitch of FL. She leaves a nephew, 2 nieces and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father Raymond Johnson Sr.
She was born in Worcester. Christine graduated from Marion High School and Trinity College in Burlington, VT
Christine and her husband owned Bird Photo on Park Ave in Worcester for 13 years, and Luce Package Delivery for 16 years. These jobs gave her the time to spend with her boys, the joys of her life. Later she worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital, retiring in 2012 due to illness.
Christine and her family would like to thank the many friends and relatives who provided so much help and support during her illness. Also special thanks to Dr. Susan Zweizig and her team of caring nurses for their compassionate care, also to the compassionate caregivers at the VNA for their care and support.
Chris loved working in her garden, taking trips to the Maine and Cape Cod, and especially the time she spent with her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday September 29, 2013 from 11-1 PM with a service in the funeral home to be held at 1PM
Burial will be held privately. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the VNA of Central MA, 120 Thomas Street Worcester, MA 01608 and the Southern Worcester County VNA, 534 School Street Webster, MA 01570
