AUBURN- Lincoln C. “Link” Walcott, 99, longtime resident of Auburn died February 16, 2014 in UMass Memorial Healthcare –Memorial Campus after a period of declining health. He leaves his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty L. (Wile) Walcott; a daughter, Linda L. Wrenn and her husband, Stephen of North Grafton; two grandchildren, Bryan Wrenn and his wife, Amanda and Patrick Wrenn and his wife, Katherine of San Francisco and a nephew, Edward Foley. His sister, Arlene Foley predeceased him. Born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Charles and Josephine (Dame) Walcott. He graduated from South High School and New England School of Accounting. “Link” as he was known to most people worked as a Cost Estimator for Morgan Contraction Company in Worcester for 40 years, retiring in 1980. Mr. Walcott was honored with the Boston Post Cane Award, which is given to the oldest resident of Auburn each year. As an avid sportsman and a lover of the outdoors you could always find him out in the fresh air. He was one of the founding members of the Auburn Sportsman Club. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. Walcott’s family on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A service honoring his life will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
